Why is European HPC running on US hardware? – Eurolab4HPC: connecting HPC and Systems

[Tuesday 10 May, 14:00 to 18:30] Co-located with the European HPC Summit Week 2016, Prague, Czech Republic, this workshop is addressed to the HPC community of Europe, presenting the state-of-the-art in European Computing Systems and Architectures, and discussing how to apply these to HPC.

HPC is a tool of primary importance for modern science, technology, industry, and society. Europe is strong in HPC, but this strength is mostly in using HPC by running applications software on supercomputer equipment that is oftentimes purchased from US manufacturers. We would like to extend the important European successes of recent decades in computer architecture and systems to the field of HPC as well.

The Eurolab4HPC CSA strives to contribute to this goal by, among others, bringing together the communities of experts in HPC and in Computing Systems.
